Qatar Affirms that the Siege Resulted in Serious, Ongoing Human Rights Violations

The State of Qatar has asserted that since June it has been subjected to unilateral coercive measures and unjust siege by some countries in the region, which have resulted in serious and persistent violations of human rights that have not yet received sufficient consideration and attention from the mechanisms of the United Nations Human Rights Council, except for the Special Rapporteur on the right to freedom of opinion and expression who commented on these measures from the perspective of his mandate, and the High Commissioner for Human Rights, who expressed his views on these measures professionally and clearly.


Qatar Calls on Human Rights Council to Urgently End Unjust Siege

The State of Qatar called on the United Nations Human Rights Council to take an urgent action to stop the violations resulting from the unilateral coercive measures and the unjust siege imposed by a number of countries on the State of Qatar, and to end the ongoing and increasing suffering of those affected by siege. HE Ambassador Ali Khalfan Al Mansouri, the State of Qatar's permanent representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, made the remarks as he addressed at the 36th session of the Human Rights Council, which is taking place from Sept. 11 to 29, noting that the council's failure to take swift and serious action to stop the violations undermines its credibility, objectivity and mechanisms.





Foreign Minister: Qatar's Bias Towards Human Rights One of Main Reasons for Attempt to Impose Guardianship on It

Qatar's Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani has underlined that Qatar's national, regional and international bias towards human rights, public opinion and the right of peoples to self-determination is one of the most important reasons for attempts to impose guardianship on it and to influence its foreign policy independence and its media. Addressing the 36th Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva today, HE the Foreign Minister reiterated Qatar's readiness to dialogue to end the Gulf crisis, within the framework of mutual respect and preservation of the sovereignty of the States, away from dictates, but in the form of compromises resulting in mutual collective obligations.


Qatar Rejects And Condemns Accusations of Siege Countries

The State of Qatar expressed Friday its rejection and condemnation of the statement issued by the siege countries from Saudi Arabia, which included unsubstantiated allegations and accusations against Qatar. Director of the Information Office at the Foreign Ministry HE Ambassador Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Rumaihi spoke today to Qatar News Agency (QNA) and said that the statement from the quartet which alleged that Qatar interferes in internal affairs of other countries and finances terrorism is baseless. His Excellency added that those allegations also contradicted with Qatar's policies which are based on respecting the sovereignty of other countries, in addition to its contradiction with the international recognition the State of Qatar received for its efforts in counter-terrorism.


Qatar Affirms Continuing Its Efforts to Resolve Disputes by Peaceful Means

The State of Qatar has affirmed that nothing will stop it from its approach and policy, which enjoy the support of the international community. and that it will continue to fulfill its legal and moral obligations to help needy people, work with its partners in the international community to meet common challenges and continue its efforts to resolve disputes by Peaceful means, despite the unilateral measures it faces in imposing an illegal land, sea and air siege.


Qatar's Foreign Minister : Gulf Crisis Is Fabricated, We Are Working with Our International Partners to Confront Terrorism

Qatar's Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani has underlined that "the recent developments related to the Gulf crisis have not been needed, especially in this period of time of multiple conflicts." Speaking at a joint press conference held here today with HE Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium Didier Reynders, HE the Foreign Minister affirmed that the Gulf crisis is fabricated and that it broke out on the basis of an electronic attack targeting the State of Qatar followed by a siege of the Qatari people and is still ongoing for more than 90 days. HE the Minister added that the despair of the siege countries has reached the point of buying advertising seconds in various television stations to market their ideas against the State of Qatar.
