Qatar Strongly Condemns Storming of Al-Aqsa and Israeli Aggression Against Worshipers

The State of Qatar has condemned in the strongest terms the storming of dozens of Israeli settlers into the courtyards of Al Aqsa Mosque and the Israeli occupation forces attacking worshipers on the first day of Eid Al Adha, considering it a provocation to the feelings of millions of Muslims around the world. In a statement today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need for the international community to act urgently to stop the repeated Israeli attacks against the brotherly Palestinian people and Al-Aqsa Mosque.


Qatar Condemns Shooting Attack inside Mosque in Norway

The State of Qatar expressed Sunday its condemnation and denunciation of a shooting attack that took place inside a mosque in the Norwegian capital Oslo, and led to one injury. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed, in a statement today, the State of Qatar's firm position of rejecting violence and terrorism, regardless of the motives and reasons. The statement stressed the State of Qatar's rejection of targeting places of worship and of terrorizing the innocent. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' statement also expressed the State of Qatar's hope of a swift recovery to the injured person.


Qatar Back UN's Call for Humanitarian Truce in Libya

The State of Qatar has announced its support for the call, made by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), for a humanitarian truce on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, and welcomed the Government of National Accord's acceptance to the truce. In a statement on Saturday, the Foreign Ministry called on the international community as well as the regional and international actors, and the various components of the Libyan conflict, to join the initiative and make it a success. The statement said that the Libyan people, which has suffered the scourge of war, deserve this truce especially since the militias of retired Major General Khalifa Haftar launched their offensive on Tripoli. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs greeted the Libyan people on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, calling on the Almighty to bring security, peace and stability to all of Libya.


Qatar Strongly Condemns Attack on UN Convoy in Libya

The State of Qatar has strongly condemned the attack on a UN mission convoy in Hawari, west of Benghazi, Libya, killing two people and injuring others. Qatar prevails over the UAE in trade dispute at the WTO

On 8 August 2019, the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the World Trade Organization (“WTO”) received a formal communication indicating that the United Arab Emirates (“UAE”) has withdrawn its WTO dispute concerning certain alleged measures adopted by Qatar. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation released a statement confirming that the UAE formally backed down from their case. The UAE’s failure in advancing this dispute against the State of Qatar demonstrates that the allegations made against Qatar were false and baseless. The UAE’s decision to withdraw its complaint so soon after initiating this dispute confirms that Qatar has, and continues to, uphold and comply with its obligations under the WTO. Evidently, the UAE had no arguments or evidence to show otherwise, as such, the UAE has formally withdrawn their complaint prior to the initiation of any adjudication by a WTO Panel.

The State of Qatar has strongly condemned the two bombings targeting two police stations in the west of the Afghan capital, Kabul, causing deaths and injuries. Qatar Condemns Bombing of Residential Area in Southern Libya

The State of Qatar condemned in the strongest terms the bombardment that targeted a residential area in the southern Libyan city of Murzuq, which resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement today that the bombing of residential areas represents a violation of the international law, and may amount to a war crime and crimes against humanity. The statement called on the international community to take an immediate action to protect the civilians, and to launch an urgent investigation into the incident that would pave the way for bringing the aggressors to international justice.
