The State of Qatar Says U.S. Recognition of Al Quds as Israeli Capital is A Serious Escalation

The State of Qatar stressed Saturday that the Palestinian issue, which is the central issue for the Arab and Islamic world, was facing a dangerous development after U.S. President Donald Trump recognized Al Quds as the capital of Israel and issued directives moving the American embassy there. Qatar said that such a move was a serious escalation and great provocation to the sentiments of millions of Muslims and Christians around the world, in addition to being a clear violation to all agreements and resolutions led by the ones issued by the UN Security Council and General Assembly that annul all the Israeli actions aiming to change Al Quds' legal status.


Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Meets Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister

HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi met Thursday with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Retno Marsudi, on the sidelines of the Tenth Bali Democracy Forum, currently held in Jakarta. Talks during the meeting dealt with bilateral relations, means of enhancing them in addition to the developments of the situation in the Arab and international arenas. They discussed during the meeting a number of topics on the agenda of the Forum.


Qatar Participates in Bali Democracy Forum in Indonesia

The State of Qatar participated in the tenth Bali Democracy Forum, which began on Thursday in Jakarta, Indonesia. HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi chaired Qatar's delegation to the tenth Bali Democracy Forum. HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs spoke at the first ministerial session of the forum which ends Friday, about the value represented by democracy and the challenges associated with it. He stressed that the importance of democracy is not only as a decision-making mechanism but also a way of life that is at the heart of people's aspirations. HE Al Muraikhi stressed that the desired progress of humankind was only complete with democratization at the national and international levels.


Qatar Calls for Steadfastness in the Face of Attempts to Undermine Jerusalem

The State of Qatar called for the need to stand firm in the face of the futile attempts to undermine the city of Jerusalem and undermine its historic and religious status. Qatar reiterated its steadfast position in support of the Palestinian cause and the support of the brotherly Palestinian people who seek to regain their rights. In a statement, the Foreign Ministry hailed the appeal made by HH the Emir of Kuwait to preserve the rights of future generations by the current generation of Gulf leaders, saying that their rights require not to escalate the situation and hasten to heal the wounds caused by the crisis between countries that are linked by close bonds of brotherhood and unity of faith, destiny and common interests


Qatar Calls for Concerted Efforts to Tackle Online Piracy

The State of Qatar has called for concerted efforts to tackle online piracy and its impact at various levels, stressing the importance of avoiding the misuse of modern technology reflected in this dangerous phenomenon that threatens all. This came in Qatar's statement delivered by Fatima Mubarak Al Nasr, member of Qatar's delegation participating in the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly on "Item 57 "Questions Related to Information" in New York. She added that the Department of Public Information and the network of United Nations information centers played a pivotal role in supporting and making the Organization's efforts through awareness-raising, education, promotion and networking with partners from various sectors in order to enhance the image, credibility and reputation of the United Nations and its important work in various fields. This role entails the responsibility of the department and the centers to be transparent, objective, accurate and impartial, she said.

The State of Qatar will continue to play an important role in the global partnership for development and will spare no effort in achieving the goals of sustainable development, member of Qatar's delegation participating in the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly Mohammed Ali Al Marri underlined.
