Qatar Stresses Region's Need for New Security Partnership, Resolving Differences Through Dialogue

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that differences must be resolved through dialogue, not the blockade, calling for a regional security partnership between all countries in the Middle East. In a speech before the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that Qatar adopts a method of change and constructive criticism for development, noting that for the past year it had been calling for dialogue, adding that Qatar have repeatedly invited its neighbors to the table and asked them to clarify their position and the reasons for the blockade and have not received a response.

Doha / Information Office / June 05 HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani affirmed that the State of Qatar is stronger than it was before the blockade, stressing that it is time to end this unfortunate chapter in the history of the Gulf. It is time for the blockading nations to abandon their delusions of victory, prioritize the security interests of the entire Middle East, His Excellency added. In an article published in New York Times newspaper, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs said: "The past year Qatar has been subjected to a reckless and ill-considered blockade imposed by four countries: Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt", noting that "these nations felt threatened by Qatar's independent foreign policy and in response, they have closed our borders and barred flights to our country."



Qatar Deplores Israeli Occupation's Brutal Massacre, Systematic Killing of Palestinians in Gaza

The State of Qatar has expressed in the strongest terms its condemnation and denunciation of the brutal massacre and systematic killing committed by the Israeli occupation forces against unarmed Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, including children and women, during their peaceful and legitimate protest against the unilateral decision of the United States to move its embassy to Jerusalem, which contradicts all relevant U.N. resolutions. In a statement to Qatar News Agency on Monday, HE Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lolwah AlKhater, said that the State of Qatar calls on all international and regional powers that have a voice in Israel to act immediately to stop the brutal killing machine, and calls upon the Security Council and international community to shoulder their responsibilities.


Minister of Foreign Affairs of Papua New Guinea Meets Qatari Ambassador

Foreign Ministry's Spokesperson: Qatar Continues to Welcome Kuwaiti Mediation, Hopes for Serious Steps by Siege Countries

HE Lulwah Rashid Al Khater, the official spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, has affirmed Qatar's continued welcome to the Kuwaiti mediation to solve the Gulf crisis, while also expressing her hope for a response and interaction of the siege countries with this mediation by taking serious steps to get out of the crisis. At a press conference held in Geneva, Switzerland, on the sidelines of the Human Rights Council, HE Al Khater said that affirmation of the siege states that the only way out of this crisis is through Kuwaiti mediation is a good development and progress by the siege countries, stressing that the State of Qatar welcomes Kuwaiti mediation and respects the positive and active role of HH the Emir of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.


Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister: No Dialogue with Siege Countries at Expense of Qatar's Sovereignty

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani reaffirmed that any dialogue with the siege countries will not be at the expense of the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, stressing the need to have basic principles for any dialogue, with these principles shielded by a clear mechanism to settle conflicts. Speaking on Monday as he laid out the foreign policy of the State of Qatar before the Advisory Council, HE the minister said that the siege countries have violated all articles of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Charter, reiterating the importance of having a clear and binding mechanism to settle GCC conflicts.


Qatar Stresses That Illegal Measures Taken by Siege Countries Constitute Grave Violation of Human Rights

The State of Qatar has stressed that the illegal measures taken by the siege countries constitute a grave violation of civil, economic and social rights as they have had a negative impact on the lives of thousands. This came in a speech delivered by Najat Daham Al-Abdullah, Director of the Family Affairs Department at the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs before the 56th session of the Commission for Social Development on item 3 (b) entitled "Review of United Nations plans and programs of action relating to situation of social groups". She said that while the State of Qatar devotes its efforts to implementing plans and programs for the success of the social development process at the national level and working in a spirit of cooperation and coordination with international and international institutions to achieve the goals of the United Nations Plan for Sustainable Development 2030, the State's policy in this area faces a serious challenge as a result of the siege and the illegal measures against the State of Qatar since 5 June 2017. These measures constitute a grave violation of civil, economic and social rights, including the prohibition of the entry of Qatari nationals into the territories of the countries imposing such measures, and to prevent nationals of those countries from traveling to or residing in the State of Qatar.
